i keep thinking about hats like this:

i know it doesn't go so well with these
oh well.

here comes the bride.

for the ringbearers to carry (in theory) down the aisle
fabric- $1 at thrift store
dowel- $2 or $3
so, the whole thing cost about $5 to make
i saw one for $25 yesterday at party city
;-)

wax.

via (google images)
i made an appointment to get a bikini wax for the wedding
i'm sort of terrified.
please help me know what to expect...ready, go.

marmalades. jams.

i spent my entire day yesterday with this lovely lady
making all of these...homemade jams and marmalades
they are going to be our wedding favors

now i'm a baker, but i've never made jam.
so thank goodness for katie,
who lived in france for a while and learned how to make all sorts of wonderful things
including homemade preserves.
so great spending the day putting love into these treats with her.

finds for friday.

so, i'm thinking about starting a post weekly: "finds for friday"
where i share thrift store or swap meet finds that i come across
for now they are mostly ones i will use for the wedding
but later...in oregon, they will probably be for the home we put together
what do you guys think?

here are this week's:
last sunday, i was walking through the maze that is the Rosebowl swap meet and passed stacks upon stacks of these massive tan books. as i looked a bit closer, i realized that they were books of newspaper articles from the New York Times. oh goodness. i died. then i grabbed one from 1946 which had prints from Aug. 1-15 ( including my wedding date).
i'm going to use it for my guest book!
lastly, my old door. i have an old window that i had previously bought to use for the seating at the wedding. i knew i needed either another window or a big old wooden door.
problem: everyone wants to sell old doors for WAY TOO MUCH $$$
i had given up my dream until i came across the same gentleman at the same swap meet who had sold me my window. cost for an old door: $30 way better than $100-200

accomplishment.

today i finished my doily runners!!! i feel incredibly accomplished.
i love them all. they all have such different touches and each stands out on their own.
isn't it said that no one woman's crochet stitch is the same as another's?
maybe that's what makes them so special
i cannot wait to see them come to life on the tables at the wedding ;-)

brand.

this is our brand.
created by the lovely lady who helped me finish my invites (her hand-writing is much better than mine)--as soon as she gets a blog up and running i will make sure to include her info as she now wants to start up a freelance stationary/invitation business
i went here. and got a stamp made out of it.
it will be used throughout the wedding...i just love seeing our initials together like that.
1 month to go. (!!!)
