today is the day. i will no longer be posting on this blog o mine via blogspot.
i'm kind of emotional about it.
i remember when i started this blog at the beginning of our engagement and it has carried me so far in the last 2 years of blogging.

back in august i got to finally see this amazing affair come together
i spent the last year working with kimberly to plan and design her big day
kimberly and riley are two incredible people who were beside themselves to get to spend the rest of their lives together.
their theme was trees and bringing the outdoors indoors.
their venue was the turnhalle room at the tivoli campus in denver, a killer 1800s german opera house turned theater. it was to-die-for. and super reasonable.
i'm sure you'll recognize many of their details from the DIY posting's i did leading
up to their wedding
it was a blast to work with weheartphotography

i am thrilled with how she turned out.

bridal bazaar was surreal.

so many cool vendors to connect with

photobooths, caterers, pastries, etc.

and some truly lovely brides i'm hoping to hear from soon.

we gave away old medicinal bottles filled with florals for brides to enter a raffle

passed out my oh-so-fun info sheet made by my talented designer.

and fed brides ring-pops and starbursts. mmm.

such a good experience.

oh my heavens
i have been oh so absent from this blog lately.
let me explain-
you see, i have been working diligently preparing for bridal bazaar which is TOMORROW
at the del mar fairgrounds.
there will be over 1000 couples there and lots of san diego area vendors
i am beyond excited.

also, i am revamping my website!! as you may have noticed, its been under construction for a while now.
but its going to be back THIS WEEK and better than ever.
one of the BIGGEST changes is that the blog will be moving over to my new website!
i hope you will all follow me over there where you can find the weddings i've done, recent ones i am doing, DIY projects and tales of my day-to-day life as a wife and wedding planner extraordinaire (well, trying to be)

after a hectic personal week, i'm back. thank you for all of your support and prayers.

My dream wedding would be elegant yet simple and of course surrounded with the love of my dear family and future husband. That’s pretty much all I would need on that day, I change my mind so much its hard for me to plan my wedding right now. All I know is I want an OPEN BAR! one of my closest friends died very suddenly monday night

i haven't really known what to do with myself

but i wanted to explain

please pray for her family who are completely heartbroken and shocked

while i'm away in colorado, my incredible friend debbie from bridalhood
has put together this colorful, beautiful inspiration board to share with all of you

I'm so excited Rach asked me to guest post while she was away making wedding dreams come true. I have had the pleasure of working with Rachael on a couple of photoshoots - first our warm and cozy yarn shoot and then we collaborated on the Inspired Creations "Champagne and Plumes" shoot. As much as I loved conceptualizing and crafting our shoots together what I enjoyed the most was getting to know and become friends with this special lady. We both followed each other through our engagement bliss and wedding planning adventures on our blogs and both moved to Oregon at the same time right after our weddings. I was so sad to see Rach and Noah move away but I know our friendship will remain and I can't wait to see them again in So Cal.

I think if I had to do my wedding over again it would be with a fiesta themed (for those of you that follow Bridalhood this would come as no surprise). So today I wanted to share a Fiesta Themed inspiration board. I also wanted to throw a challenge out to my girl Rach - how about we make this our next and best photoshoot yet. I've been dying to execute an idea like this and what better place then So Cal. You find the perfect place and Keith and I will be there with bells on for another reunion.

DIY: fabric boutonnieres

i spent all day yesterday working on these little beauties for an upcoming wedding i'm doing

they are far easier to make than i expected

here's what you'll need:

-fabric shears

-a pretty light-er fabric of your choice for the flowers-about 2 yards

(i chose a polka dotted tulle that was on sale at joanns)

-green fabric for the leaves

-floral stem wire

-wire cutters

-fabric glue

-needle and thread

1. first, cut a flower shape out of a piece of paper

2. now, cut about 10 square layers of fabric-the more layers the fuller the flower

3. next cut the fabric flower using your fabric shears and the piece of paper as your guide

4. then you sort of twist the fabric clockwise applying pressure as your twist it to create the various petals of the flower

5. once you have your flower petals and layers, knot one end of your thread and pinch the flower from the bottom to create the fullness you want, then sew your thread through the center of the flower

6. after your first thread, manipulate the fabric in different places and sew there accordingly

7. next step is cutting leave shapes out of your green fabric (1-2 leaves per boutonnieres should be fine)

8. use the fabric glue to glue the two leaves together at an angle

9. now cut your stem wire so that you have about 5 pieces per boutonniere that are about 1 1/2 inches long

10. take those pieces and using fabric glue, wrap the bottom of the leaves tightly around the stem wire then hold/pinch them there with pressure so they can dry properly

11. after they've dried and are secure, use the fabric glue to glue the bottom of the flower to the stem/leaves (don't be shy with the glue here, you wanna make sure it stays)

12. finally after those have dried, use the same green fabric cut in strips to wrap the bottom of the flower/stem wire

(sorry for so many directions!! it's really not that hard i promise)

have any of you noticed how everyone seems to go a little a-wall around weddings

like crazy

emotional

dramatic?

i mean really, everyone's stress can be heightened. including yours as the couple.

i definitely experienced my fair share of this during our own wedding and was thinking about it this morning so i thought i'd offer a little advice i picked up along the way:

don't you sweat it. people can be selfish and dramatic and downright awful around the biggest day for you and your partner. they can make it about them, or cause a scene, or totally lag on things you've asked them to help with. but let's be honest and relieve some stress here- ready?

it's not worth getting upset about. seriously.

i was getting so stressed and hurt by certain situations but in the end (and thanks to some really wonderful people surrounding me) i learned that its not AT ALL worth it. know why? because your wedding day and the engagement leading up to it is about you and the person you love committing your lives to each other in this one beautiful act. and that needs to be your focus-getting through all of the challenges that may come your way throughout the wedding planning to get to marry your best friend.

so whatever you do, try your hardest to not let it affect you and just enjoy the planning/engagement process because you'll only get it once.

have fun with it!- and i promise you, everything WILL come together beautifully.

i'm sure lots of you out there are getting married this summer and i hope this helped to ease your stress for the holiday weekend and your upcoming day!

i absolutely love creating brands

whether for my own wedding or others that i'm working on

they can be used in so many different ways to personalize favors, invites, banners, etc.

i think they highlight that the wedding day is celebrating this specific couple

and they really stand out as a unique detail

one of my favorite resources for this is rubberstamps.

you send them an image that you've scanned in of your brand or monogram

and they cut a stamp using that image.

awesome, no?

my favorite part is that you can keep using it after the wedding is over-

i still use ours to sign our name to something or stamp the back of an envelope we're sending

it'll last forever and always remind you of your big day.

it's about 70 days or so out now for a wedding i'm doing in colorado

and i am getting so so excited to put everything together for this amazing couple

originally we had planned on doing a sort of rustic/vintage inspired affair with lots of candlelight and some tree inspiration here and there...

well we've kept the candlelight but now the wedding has become much more whimsical- incorporating green leaves all over, hanging flowering trees for their backdrop and moss, lots and lots of it.

almost like a midsummer night's dream (without costumes-that might be taking it a little too far)

now the theme has become a dreamy, vintage, lace, tree inspired extravaganza and i cannot wait to share the final product with all of you once its all put together.

i'm totally stoked to work with the killer wedding photography duo of weheartphotography on riley and kimberly's big day. these two deserve such a special day, they are two wonderful and humble people who are just beside themselves to get to spend the rest of their lives with each other.

honestly, when we first got here-our house was kind of a mess.

the previous tenants did not leave it in the greatest condition

we had cleaning and lots of painting to do.

but luckily my mom showed up with burritos and beers and we all got right to it.

we are finally here and settled in

flew to annapolis, maryland last week.

watched my little brother-in-law graduate from the academy

lots of fun-filled days with family

flew back yesterday

sick (trying to recover from all the time change/weather change)

drove to bend from portland this morning

picked up our girls

packing/cleaning/preparing to

begin our move south tomorrow.

i swear i might go crazy with all that we are doing.

naval academy graduation

our new place in c-bad.

i just want to get there. the next week is going to be nuts so i will likely not be posting until the following week.

you are all wonderful and i'll miss you terribly!

first of all, serious apologies are in order for my total neglect of this blog lately
i've been a little distracted because...

we are moving back to san diego at the end of the month!!!

for the last few months noah and i have been debating moving back to that area for many reasons:
our family
building our own family
the weather difference
my business was a big one
the list goes on.

bend has been so incredible to us and given us a lot of perspective on where we come from
we've gained new appreciation for it and are now DYING to go back
i don't think we'd expected to be this homesick but i can't wait to chronicle the next chapter of our married adventures back in carlsbad, ca!!

even though i've been married for going on 9 months now, i still can't help but look around the web at some of the incredible wedding dresses out there.

vintage dresses, ethereal/dreamy dresses, incredible ball gowns and amazing up-and-coming dress designers.

here are some favorites i've found:

if i could do it all over again, i'd probably wear a dress just like audrey's in funny face

vintage/vintage inspired dresses: the best thing about vintage dresses is that most of them are SO cheap or completely reasonable compared to most wedding dresses. but you have to be checking around all of the time because they can go pretty quick!

it feels like they're everywhere. like here, here and here.
they are all over facebook. tons of people who got married shortly before or after we did who are already expecting.
sometimes i get a little baby crazy due to the adorableness everywhere!

noah and i had spoken a lot about the subject when we first got married. seeing as we'd already been together for 4 years, i thought we should just start right away.
these were some tough conversations. my whole life my biggest goal has always been to be a mama. i've always loved children and just felt so natural around them, taking care of them.
i was feeling really anxious. then i realized noah was right, we are still really young with a lot more adventuring to do before bringing a little one into the world.
we've never really travelled together, except to NY, once.
and we had much more to see and experience before making a tiny one. (i call babies "tiny(s)" a lot)
anyway, we talked it over and decided to sit down and discuss/write out the goals we wanted to achieve before trying. instead of putting a time frame on it, making this list really seemed to take an enormous amount of pressure and anxiety off of both of us.

has anyone else experienced baby fever lately???
have you had any discussions like this?

i am so so happy for all of those out there experiencing parenthood for the first time right now
and i know when the time is right, noah and i will both know it and be ready

okay. so lately i've realized something.
i am not the best at sharing things about my husband and i, our two pups and our life-after-wedding here.
therefore i'm going to try and start doing more of that (good idea, bad idea??)

to start, i want to share with you all a bit more about mr. hershman, my other half:

he is a cook/chef. a really really good one.

arguably two of the best places to eat in town.
i'm really proud of him and how passionate he is about food, cooking and the joy and love found in doing it.

glitter-ing and glam-ing it up.

so much glitter, pink, champagne...oh man.

yesterday deb and i got together with some amazing vendors to put together our shoot for this killer contest. our inspiration board is all we can show you for now, but we'll definitely be posting more of our shoot soon. a big thanks to marigold vintage rentals and a mister benjamin edwards for help in making the shoot happen.
